Putin: Ukraine and the West started the war themselves, we used force to stop it
Vladimir Putin

"We had no doubt", said Putin, that in February 2022 "everything was prepared by Kiev to launch an attack on Donbas. All this was completely against the principles and rules of the UN Security Council.

"I would like to repeat, they started the war and we used force to stop it," Putin said.

He said that the West's objective was unlimited power and that Sevastapoli was definitely the next objective after Donbas. As is often the case in his speeches, Putin is now giving a history lesson, saying that in the 1930s the West opened the door to Nazi Germany.

He then mentioned the Austro-Hungarian Empire.

Putin said the West supported "a coup" in Ukraine in 2014, pointing out that one of the Ukrainian army units is named after a Nazi German unit and that those in power choose to turn a blind eye to this.

Putin said the West will use anyone, terrorists, Nazis, "even the devil himself" to fight against Russia.
