After several devastating earthquakes in Turkey and Syria, where over 45 thousand people have died and hundreds of others continue to be under the rubble, another warning has come.
Turkish geoscientist, Prof. Dr. Naci Gorur has declared that the province that was hit last night, Hatay, will no longer have problems with earthquakes for a while.
“Hatay has drained her energy; the time is approaching for Istanbul, if we don't prepare, it will be devastating for our country", he claimed for t24.
"My geoscientist friends and I made these warnings, but no one listened or heeded us. Not only were we not consulted, but also the picture of the earthquakes in Kahramanmaras showed that there was not enough preparation," Gorur added.
Two earthquakes hit Hataj yesterday, and the Turkish Disaster and Emergency Management Agency (AFAD) announced that the first earthquake had a magnitude of 6.4 and the second with a magnitude of 5.8 on the Richter scale.
Three people lost their lives, and 213 others were injured.
