Russian President Vladimir Putin secured another term at the helm of the Kremlin after winning the presidential election with over 87% of the vote.
After the victory, he gave a speech where he also mentioned a possible war between Russia and NATO forces. For Putin, such a war is possible and would inevitably lead to World War III.
"A conflict with NATO would bring us closer to a world war," he said after the victory.
"I think it's unlikely that anyone would be interested in that," Putin added. 'This is nothing good,' referring to the battlefield in Ukraine where both English and French are heard. 'They are dying there in great numbers.'
Putin also commented on Navalny's death, a month after he died in a penal colony in Siberia.
As for the case of Mr. Navalny, he passed away and that is something sad. But there have been other cases of people dying in penal institutions.'
Putin received congratulations for winning a fifth term at the head of Russia from some of the world's leaders. North Korean leader Kim Jong-Un sent his congratulations to Putin.
Meanwhile, it was the president of Venezuela, Nicolas Maduro, who expressed his congratulations, underlining that the electoral process in Russia was flawless and the participation was exemplary.
The leadership of Cuba did not fail to send congratulations to Putin, emphasizing that these elections prove the recognition that the Russian people give to their leadership.
On the other hand, these elections have been widely criticized in the West, expressing outrage as Putin was alone in the race, while the British defense secretary called these elections 'stolen'.
