Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu says his country is "prepared" for the possibility of a temporary ceasefire and a deal to release hostages.
He said during a media conference that Israeli forces have "struck" their enemy in the south and withstood "tremendous" pressure to stop the fighting.
Regarding the topic of Operation "Gideon's Chariots", the new Israeli ground offensive in Gaza, Netanyahu said that "at the end of this campaign, all territories of the Gaza Strip will be under Israeli security control."
He said he has heard from Israel's "greatest friends" who have told him they will give it their full support and send weapons, but that they "cannot accept a situation where there is a humanitarian crisis in Gaza."
According to Netanyahu, Israel has developed a new three-phase program with the US to distribute basic food items to the civilian population in Gaza.
This plan includes bringing in basic food items "to prevent a humanitarian crisis," opening food distribution points from American companies secured by Israeli forces, and creating a "sterile zone" in the south where Gaza civilians can receive "full humanitarian assistance," he said.
Netanyahu said that Israel will follow Donald Trump's plan, will not stop until it completely eliminates Hamas and releases every hostage.
