Fuel War: A New Wave of Mass Attacks Between Russia and Ukraine (With Dozens of

The war in Ukraine has entered a new phase of long-range strikes, with both Moscow and Kiev targeting each other's critical infrastructure and logistics. Russia has launched one of the most massive ballistic missile and drone attacks since the start of a full-scale invasion in 2022, killing at least eight people. Ukraine, in turn, has responded with fire-for-fire to Russian forces, hitting oil tankers in the Black Sea and major online commerce warehouses on the outskirts of Moscow.

The next massacre of Ukrainian cities

The latest Russian raid involved a wide range of advanced weapons systems, using Iskander ballistic missiles, Zircon hypersonic missiles and over 125 drones. The strikes spread across several regions, leaving behind destruction and civilian casualties.

According to Ukrainian officials, the toll of the Russian attacks is tragic. In Kharkiv, four men aged between 24 and 62 were killed when a postal terminal on the outskirts of the city was hit.

In Kiev, an elderly woman was killed, while supermarkets, dormitories and a large logistics center in Bucha were damaged. Air defenses shot down only 18 of 41 missiles and intercepted 108 drones.

Zaporizhzhia and Sumy recorded two and one victim, respectively.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky reacted sharply on Telegram, specifying that in just one week Russia had used about 1,450 attack drones, over 1,640 guided bombs and 99 missiles of various types against Ukraine.

Kiev's response: tankers in the Black Sea and Russian "Amazon" warehouses are hit

In response to these attacks, Ukraine has significantly intensified its operations inside Russian territory in recent weeks. The Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) and the Armed Forces coordinated an attack on Russian fuel infrastructure in the southern Stavropol region, hitting three oil depots.

The most strategic was the strike in the Black Sea, where Ukrainian forces managed to damage three tankers of Russia's so-called "shadow fleet", forcing the temporary suspension of loading operations at the Caspian Pipeline Consortium terminal in Novorossiysk.

"I thank each of our units that is helping to spread awareness within Russia that this war must end," Zelensky declared, emphasizing that these facilities serve directly to finance Russian aggression.

In parallel, Ukrainian drones caused large-scale fires in two giant warehouses of the company Wildberries (considered the Russian equivalent of Amazon, with a market value of $ 12.6 billion in 2026). The attack in the city of Tambov left 7 dead and 25 injured, while another victim and 37 injured were recorded at the Elektrostal warehouse, near Moscow.

Ukraine's ballistic missile alert

These developments come at a time when Kiev reports that it has managed to “disable” about 43% of Russia’s oil refining capacity through successive drone attacks. However, in the face of Russian retaliation with heavy hypersonic and ballistic missiles, Zelensky has made an urgent appeal to European allies for new supplies:

"Defense against ballistic missiles is our ongoing and top priority right now. Interceptors are needed every day."
