The Guardian reports that Hamas has submitted its response to the ceasefire proposal presented by US President Donald Trump's Middle East envoy, Steve Witkoff, to mediators.
The Palestinian group says in an official statement that under the agreement, it will release ten hostages and 18 bodies in exchange for the release of Palestinian prisoners by Israel.
Recall that Israel previously warned Hamas to accept this ceasefire, otherwise it would face extremely serious consequences.
As we await the release of Palestinian prisoners, Gaza is facing a major hunger crisis, with the UN calling it "the hungriest place on Earth."
Jens Laerke, spokesman for the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA), said that 100 percent of Gaza's 2.3 million population is now on the verge of "catastrophic famine."
Israeli attacks have intensified throughout the enclave, particularly in Northern Gaza, where Al Awda Hospital, the last partially functional hospital in the area, was forced to be evacuated after repeated attacks.
Nearly 200,000 people have been displaced in the past two weeks alone, adding that the Israeli displacement order now covers about 30% of Gaza's territory.
