The US Senate may begin considering a bill to toughen sanctions against Russia as early as next week, Republican Senator Lindsey Graham announced during a press conference in Kyiv, Ukraine.

"I expect that next week the Senate will start proposing the draft law on sanctions. There are members of the House of Representatives who are ready to propose in the House, and you will see congressional action," Graham said.

The US senator added that he sees nothing, including talks in Istanbul, that would show Russia's desire for peace.

"So when these two weeks pass, I think everyone will understand that Russia is playing a game at the expense of the world, not just America. We will change that game for Russia. The game Putin is playing is about to change. The United States will hit it — and hit it hard — when it comes to sanctions. China, the game you are playing with Russia will also change. If you continue to buy cheap Russian oil - feeding Putin's war machine - all your goods entering the US will face a 500% fee," he added.
