The fever of the war with Russia that has been sweeping the West for two years has caused NATO members to mobilize, increasing the production of armaments and increasing investments in the modernization of air and naval fleets.

The latest move in the modern wind of weaponry has been made by Great Britain, which will spend 10 million pounds to prepare for a possible war in the Arctic.

The Royal Marines are expected to be equipped with a modern fleet of snowmobiles that will make it easier for them to access the battlefield.

The engines, called the Lynx Brutal, "will be used to eliminate communications and allow access for allied fighter aircraft," the Royal Navy said.

They will be used by the UK Commando Force, the country's specialist extreme cold weather troops, capable of fighting in all the hostile Arctic conditions.

Custom built to move in heavy snow and rough trails, the new Lynx Brutal are ideally suited for moving commandos behind enemy lines at a faster pace.

With a 180bhp turbo engine and a 37-litre fuel tank, the 250kg vehicles will give British forces a tactical advantage as they carry out reconnaissance and raiding operations in the High North.

Captain Nick Unwin, Commando Force Program Director, said: "The Lynx Brutal is a well-proven vehicle operated by many partners and allies and will play a key role in commandos' ability to operate in areas and in ways that are beyond the capabilities of conventional forces in the High North."

They have already been tested by the Marines, who traditionally move through the snow on skis, snowshoes or towed by armored vehicles to enter battle.

Successful commando strike operations on these snowmobiles will allow UK F-35 fighter jets to operate freely from an aircraft carrier.

The British Navy has ordered the purchase of 159 "Lynx Brutal" and they are being produced by the Finnish branch of the Canadian firm Bombardier Recreational Products, which plans to have them ready in March next year.

The snowmobiles will be deployed as part of the Littoral Response Group (North) - a Royal Navy amphibious task force. The strike team is designed to respond to incidents in the waterways of Northern Europe - including Norway's complex coastline, the High North and the Arctic.
