Just days after leaving the US administration, billionaire Elon Musk has not held back on criticizing US President Donald Trump's tax and spending bill.
"I'm sorry, but I can't take it anymore. This outrageous and wasteful Congressional bill is a shameful abomination. Shame on those who voted for it. You know you did wrong," Elon Musk wrote on the social network X.
With this bill, Donald Trump aims to ease taxes and there will be spending cuts for the government.
The House of Representatives passed the bill last month by just one vote, after the Independent Congressional Budget Office warned that the measure would add $3.8 trillion to the federal debt, which currently stands at $36.2 trillion.
Even Elon Musk thinks the bill will increase debt.
"This bill will significantly increase the budget deficit and burden American citizens with unsustainable debt," the billionaire added.
The White House rejected his criticism, saying the President is aware of Musk's opinion, but work to turn it into law will continue.
The Senate, which is also controlled by Trump's Republicans, aims to pass the bill within the next month, although changes to the version approved by the House of Representatives are expected.
President Trump had appointed Elon Musk to head a department to cut costs and increase efficiency, during which Musk intervened in several federal agencies, but ultimately failed to deliver on his big promises.
He resigned last week.
