Macron's strong statement about the massacre in Russia: The same group

President Emmanuel Macron said today (March 25) that gunmen who killed 137 people at a concert hall outside Moscow were part of an Islamic State branch behind failed attempts to attack France in recent months.

Macron said this explains why the French government on Sunday raised its security alert to the highest level. More soldiers will be put on alert and ready to patrol various locations, including schools.

Islamic State claimed responsibility for Friday's attack in Moscow.

Russia, which has disputed US conclusions that ISIS orchestrated the massacre that killed hundreds, continued to try to pin the blame on Ukraine.

According to the French president, such a thing is counterproductive since the Islamic State itself has taken responsibility for the terrorist attack.

"This attack was claimed by the Islamic State and the information available to us, to our (intelligence) services as well as to our key partners, actually indicates that it was an Islamic State entity that instigated and carried out this attack. This specific group... over the last few months had carried out several attempted attacks in France,” he added.
