The High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Kaja Kallas, has announced that the European Union has begun the gradual lifting of punitive measures that have been weighing on Kosovo for two years.
At a press conference in Pristina, Kallas announced that the situation in the north needs to be de-escalated, which, according to her, the closure of parallel structures in the north does not contribute to.
"As a sign of our commitment, I can announce that the EU has started to gradually lift the measures introduced in June 2023. The decision paves the way for great opportunities for Kosovo's development and brings closer ties with Europe. But it is conditional on maintaining de-escalation in the north."
"The closure of structures supported by Serbia undermines efforts towards de-escalation," she stated.
