Security guards at the CIA headquarters in Virginia opened fire this Thursday outside the CIA premises.
The CIA described the event as a "security incident."
The incident occurred outside the CIA facility in Langley and resulted in the injury of one person.
The incident occurred just hours after two Israeli embassy employees, Yaron Lisinsky and Sarah Milgrim, were shot dead outside the Jewish Museum in Washington.
So far, there is no indication that the two incidents are linked.
"There was a security incident that law enforcement responded to outside of CIA headquarters," the spokesman said, adding that the main gate remains closed and employees are being asked to use alternate routes.
"Additional information will be provided when deemed appropriate," he added.
