The Albanian Investment Corporation has paved the way for the construction of 5-star hotels within the buildings and territory of the government residences in the Uji i Ftohtë area, in Vlora. VoxNews has uncovered the Corporation's document, which shows that the three state buildings will be converted into private areas, where some suites will also be left to government officials. Our editorial team warned about these constructions after the publication of the auction in the APP, while on the afternoon of January 20, the report was also published.
According to the document, the project will target the government residences of Vlora, once buildings dedicated to receiving important personalities and organizing official events.
"However, over time and changing needs, these properties have lost their functionality and have become rarely used structures, becoming a financial burden for maintenance and a dormant asset without a tangible economic return," the document states.
It is further explained that these premises will become 5-star boutique hotels, where high-ranking personalities will continue to benefit from the services that these government buildings will offer.
The corporation writes that the government residences near Uji i Ftohtë in Vlora, about 6 km from the city center, were built during the communist regime to accommodate high-ranking state officials and official figures.
"Located in one of the most beautiful areas at the entrance to the Albanian Riviera, they offer unique and impressive landscapes, as well as proximity to the point where the Adriatic and Ionian Seas divide. Historically, these residences have served as vacation and official meeting spaces for political leaders and diplomatic delegations. Although still functional, they are depreciated and require significant maintenance to meet modern standards," writes the institution directly subordinate to the government.
It is further written that these premises are used very rarely, turning into underutilized assets that offer an excellent opportunity for transformation and economic development. "The properties where this project will be developed are the government residence 'Villa no. 2' with a surface area of ??1,126 m2. 'Villa no. 6' with a building surface area of ??332.48 m2 and 'Villa no. 9' with a surface area of ??186.18 m2" the documents state.
VoxNews learned that the Corporation writes that the Uji i Ftohtë area in Vlora is a region of particular natural and historical importance in Albania and is unexploited. “This project offers an opportunity to combine the preservation of the heritage of the use of these residences with the adoption of the most advanced standards of hospitality and management of luxury spaces,” is the justification of this agency.
It is further clarified that the area of ??the competition is 1,644.7 m2, where the residence is 6 km away from Vlora and 190 from Tirana.
