The General Directorate of Archives has today published an interesting document of a meeting of the Council of Ministers in 1952 on earthquakes.

"The document we publish today is a report of the meeting of the Council of Ministers in 1952.

In this meeting, Mehmet Shehu states that our country has a high risk of earthquakes, referring to a study by the Italians led by engineer Morrell, which stated that Albania comes second after Japan as a seismic zone.

According to this study, the capital of the country was the epicenter and therefore the constructions had to be made safe to withstand strong earthquakes up to 7 magnitude.

Meanwhile, our specialists dismissed it as an idea, saying that there are exaggerations in Morrell's studies and that Albania should follow the construction rules used by the Soviet Union", writes the General Directorate of Archives.
