AEK announces One Macedonia as winner of the national tender for the 5G network

The Agency for Electronic Communications (AEK) officially announced that One Macedonia, a subsidiary of the 4iG Group, has been declared the winner of the tender for the deployment of the first 5G Standalone (SA) network in North Macedonia. This decision marks a historic moment in advancing secure and sustainable digital connectivity for the future across the region.

Through this process, One Macedonia, the sole participant in the tender, can build and operate one of the most advanced and secure 5G standalone (5G SA) networks in the region. Earlier, One Macedonia announced that it has entered into a preliminary agreement with Ericsson for strategic cooperation in the planning, design and deployment of the new network. The implementation of the 5G network and the launch of commercial services are planned to begin at the end of March 2027, with a long-term plan that aims for full coverage of urban and transport corridors by 2030 and nationwide high-speed internet access by 2032. The project aims to provide fast, reliable and secure mobile connectivity that meets the needs of citizens, institutions and businesses, while ensuring compliance with European standards and values. The new network will be designed to provide a sustainable, secure and future-oriented digital infrastructure that supports innovation and long-term economic growth.
