Prices this past year have risen even more than in previous years. The Institute of Statistics, in its publication of the consumer price index, reports an increase in inflation in December to 2.3% from 2.1% in the same period a year ago.

While at the end of the year, high consumption of goods is one of the main factors influencing price increases, in December 2025, the increase came mainly from rents, water and fuel with a percentage of 0.96% to total inflation, food 0.56%, furniture 0.16% and hotels, bars and restaurants 0.15%.

Compared to December 2024, the highest prices for food basket products were recorded for dairy, seafood, meat, and fewer fruits and vegetables.

INSTAT emphasizes that all groups of goods have had an impact on the increase in inflation as no category has reported a price decrease.

The year 2025 closed with an average inflation of 2.2%, being the same as the average inflation in 2024. This rate is below the Bank of Albania's target of 3%.
