The Dibra Court has ordered a prison sentence for Hazbi Velsula, a 31-year-old man accused of murdering his cousin, Selim Velsula, an event that occurred two days ago (June 11) in Klos.
The perpetrator did not give any statement about the motive for the crime during the trial today, requesting the presence of a defense attorney and refusing to cooperate with investigators.
The victim is reported to have lived for years in the village of Xibër-Murrizë in the Klos municipality with his wife and had a quiet life. At around 4:00 PM, he asked his wife to help him take the cattle out to their property above the village.
After taking the cattle out, the victim returned to get a bottle of water and approached the area where he kept the cattle again.
At that moment, his cousin, 32-year-old Hazbi Velsula, who had lived in the rural areas of Tirana for years, but had recently returned to the family property in Xibar, called the victim to come closer, telling him that he had "a conversation."
He then attacked him with a knife, stabbing him several times and causing serious injuries. Selim Velsula immediately fell to the ground from the blows, while the perpetrator fled the scene.
The victim, although seriously injured, tried to return to his apartment, but was unable to do so. He was found lying lifeless on the village road by a local resident who was going to get water for irrigation. The latter immediately notified the victim's wife and then the other residents.
It is learned that the suspected perpetrator, Hazbi Velsula, called his sister after the crime, telling her: "I committed the murder with a cutting instrument."
The sister notified the police and police forces surrounded the area where the perpetrator was hiding. It is suspected that the perpetrator suffered from mental health problems.
