A 16-year-old in Italy was sentenced today to 17 years in prison for the death of 13-year-old Albanian girl, Aurora Tila, who fell from the balcony of her seventh-floor apartment, an event that occurred on October 25, 2024 in Piacenza.
According to Ansa, the court hearing took place at the Juvenile Court in Bologna, where the judge decided on a sentence of 17 years in prison, after the prosecutor in the case had requested 20 years and 8 months in prison.
Aurora's parents have stated that justice has been served, but they believe it would be better for the 16-year-old to be sentenced to 20 years in prison, not 17.
"I am satisfied with the 17-year prison sentence, although 20 would have been better. At least, justice has been served. I have always believed in justice, I have said this from the beginning," said the mother of the deceased 13-year-old.
The victim and the 16-year-old were in a relationship, and according to previous reports, it was the girl who ended the relationship due to the problems they were having.
The victim's family members stated that she had not shown any signs of depression, but the 13-year-old's mother had filed a complaint against the teenager a few days before the tragic event, as he was disturbing the minor.
Meanwhile, the 16-year-old has denied any connection to the incident, stating that the girl threw herself from the balcony. He was the one who initially sought help from neighbors and called the police.
But the evidence showed otherwise.
A witness revealed that it was the defendant who made Aurora fall, while she, holding onto the railing and her waist, told him: "I love you, you can't do this to me."
