The Constitutional Court ruled in favor of Erion Veliaj this Monday, overturning President Bajram Begaj's decree announcing elections for the Municipality of Tirana.

It is learned that the decision-making of the panel of judges was 5-3 in favor of overturning the Government's decision dismissing the mayor of Tirana, following the proposal made by the Tirana Municipal Council.

With this decision, the decree of President Bajram Begaj setting the date of the elections in Tirana is also canceled.

In his complaint, Veliaj claimed that his three-month absence from work is justified and does not constitute a reason to dismiss him from his position.
