The Constitutional Court decides Veliaj's 'FATE' today!

Today at 5:00 PM, the President of the Constitutional Court, Holta Zaçaj, will make a statement to the media regarding the Erion Veliaj case.

The court will clarify the decision on Veliaj's lawsuit, which requested the annulment of the government's decision that dismissed him from office as Mayor of Tirana, calling it illegal and in violation of the Constitution.

In the same case, the Court will also review the President's decree that set the date of the partial elections for the Municipality of Tirana, to see if it is in accordance with the Constitution.

The court has temporarily suspended the effects of the presidential decree, meaning that by-elections in Tirana cannot be held until a final decision is made.
