Ledjan Imeraj, the Albanian boy who tragically lost his life on New Year's Eve in Italy, will be laid to rest in Albania on Friday.

On the night of last December 31, the 17-year-old lost his life as a result of the fire that broke out in the structure for unaccompanied foreign minors located in Santa Caterina in Prato.

The Prosecutor's Office of Udine has given permission for the burial and removal of the boy's body. The autopsy of the 17-year-old's body was performed last week.

Ledjani stayed in a community center in the Friuli area since September 2022. Late at night on December 31, a fire broke out in these premises.

Firefighters rescued 11 people, two of whom were injured, one of whom was a boy of African origin who was a roommate with the 17-year-old Albanian. Unfortunately, Ledjani could not be taken out alive.

The entire serious incident will be investigated for manslaughter.
