The identities of three Albanians arrested in the flames by police in Italy have been revealed after being caught unloading a container of bananas into port, a shipment of about 40 kilograms of cocaine.

It is said that 49-year-old Alfons Teqa, 30-year-old Athanas Juveli and 36-year-old Rushan Kanushi, the latter resident in the sant'Elpidio a Mare municipality area, in the province of Fermo, marche, fell into handcuffs.

According to Italian media, the three Albanians had arrived in the city in a rental car, staying overnight in a motel in the area, but the night between October 25 and 26 they went urgently towards the port to unload a shipment of 40 kilograms of pure cocaine that had just arrived by commercial ship from Ecuador, hidden among bananas and inside a container.

The three Albanians already arrested could benefit from this work for transporting around 40-50 thousand euros, but failed. The value of the goods if sold, according to neighbouring media, amounts to at least 3 million euros.

It is also a forbidden route and scheme. The operation was carried out by the Guardia di Finance and the Italian Customs Agency, but the news was only confirmed to the media on October 31.

The three men are said to have been silent before public prosecutor Daniele Rosa and have received lawyers. Two of them Alfons Teqa and Athanas Juveli were suspected of coming directly from Albania, while Rushan Kanushi, allegedly in Italy before arriving in the city, to get the large amount of drugs.

They were allegedly hired as couriers to pull and deliver merchandise for the organisation. They also carried backpacks, where they had all the equipment needed to open the newly-opened container.

The ship was launched from the port of Guayaquil, Ecuador, under the name "Cma CGM Imagination" and its flag was Maltese. It has made its transits to Marseille and Barcelona, but scans in Livorno revealed the cargo.
