The Special Appeal has upheld the sentence for Ardi Veliu's former driver, Sokol Idrizaj, and his family members who were sentenced a few months ago by the Special Court.
Each was sentenced respectively to: Agustin Mesuli, Altin Doda and Florian Baku with 11 years, in a shortened trial 7.5.
Sokol Idrizaj and his wife Elda Idrizaj - 8 years, with summary judgment 5.7.
Sokol Idrizaj's eldest daughter Egi Idrizaj with 7 years, 4.7 with a summary trial and Article 59 was applied.
The little girl, Bora Idrizaj, 2 years old, was subjected to Article 59.
Vangjush Kasharra acquitted of "concealing income".
Tomorr Baruti - 2 years, with a shortened trial of 1.4 years and Article 59 was applied.
In May last year, Sokol Idrizaj, his wife and the couple's two daughters were indicted by SPAK on suspicion of being members of a criminal group. A total of 12 people were arrested as part of this proceeding.
These citizens are suspected of having transported stolen and valuable items from the French state to Albania, where they were sold secretly and smuggled through the jewelry store of citizen Vangjush Kashara, who had the central store in Tirana.
SPAK's verifications showed that these groups, which were operating before 2019, transferred 724,386 euros to France for the purchase of items, a figure that only pertains to banking transactions, while the cash amounts that were illegally transported across the state border amounted to 2.1 million euros and 35,000 francs.
