The Special Appeal releases Redi Molla from prison, this is the reason

The Special Court has eased the measure for the former director of the Municipality of Tirana, Redi Molla.

Molla, arrested as part of the investigations into the "5-D" file, was under "prison arrest" and will now remain under "house arrest."

The decision was made for health reasons, as Molla suffers from heart problems. According to lawyers, Molla has been undergoing medical treatment since July due to heart health problems.

Molla and other Tirana Municipality officials had built a corrupt scheme where they benefited from tenders with companies they opened through their relatives.

Announcement of the GJKKO:

The Special Court of Appeal for Corruption and Organized Crime, with a monocratic panel composed of Judge Iliriana Olldashi, today on 10.10.2025, announced the decision on criminal case no. 188 act, date 01.09.2025 registration, on the appeal of the person under investigation RM, with the subject: “Appeal against decision no. 531, date 31.07.2025 of the Special Court of First Instance for Corruption and Organized Crime, with the subject: Replacement of security measure” and decided:

Amendment of decision no. 531, dated 31.07.2025 of the Special Court of First Instance for Corruption and Organized Crime, as follows:

Replacing the personal security measure "Arrest in prison" imposed on the defendant RM, by decision no. 28, dated 28.03.2024 of the Special Court of First Instance for Corruption and Organized Crime, with the security measure "House arrest" provided for by Article 237 of the Code of Criminal Procedure, ordering the defendant RM not to leave his residence located at the address: ***.

The release of the defendant RM from the detention facility is ordered, unless he is being held for some other reason.

The Special Prosecution Office against Corruption and Organized Crime is charged with the execution of this decision and the control, in cooperation with the judicial police, of the implementation of the order given to the defendant by this court.
