A tragic accident has occurred in the city of Malaga, where a 48-year-old Spanish National Police sub-inspector and three people suspected of being members of Albanian criminal groups lost their lives after a head-on collision between two vehicles.

The incident began after an attempted robbery at a pharmacy on Lope de Rueda Street, in the Puerto de la Torre neighborhood. The three robbers, believed to be members of a well-known Albanian gang, attempted to rob the pharmacy, but failed and sped away in a powerful vehicle. The National and local police immediately pursued them.

According to reports from the EFE agency, during the escape, the robbers took a wrong turn, entering the opposite direction on the A-7 highway towards Torremolinos. It was there that the fatal collision with the car of the 48-year-old sub-inspector, who was not taking part in the operation, but was returning home after a night shift, occurred.

The powerful collision caused both vehicles to burst into flames. According to Malaga City Council authorities, firefighters from the Churriana, Carretera de Cádiz and Martiricos stations immediately arrived at the scene to extract the bodies from the burnt vehicles. The three people in the robbers' car were found dead, while officers from the Local Police pulled the sub-inspector out of the car, but unfortunately were unable to save his life.

The Civil Guard, the National Police and the 061 emergency services also intervened at the scene. Investigations into the accident are being led by the Civil Guard's Traffic Department.

The deceased sub-inspector was a father of two and had over 20 years in the service. The event has shocked public opinion in Spain and local authorities have expressed condolences to his family.
