The damage caused by the fire on January 25th in the "Kika1" complex in the Paris Municipality is considerable. The cause of the fire is suspected to be a compressor installed by "Eco Market" in the parking lot of the building outside any technical parameters, while residents are calling for every necessary measure to be taken to prevent this situation from recurring.
Two days after the fire, work is still underway to repair the parking lot of the building where the "Eco Market" refrigerator compressor was located.
Most of the apartments affected by the fire are currently uninhabitable.
For residents, the lack of emergency stairs or other technical fire protection conditions remains problematic.
Residents raise concerns that compressors should not be allowed to be placed in closed car parks, as an electrical spark could be fatal in the conditions where dozens of families are sheltered in these buildings.
According to the Law on Fire Protection and Rescue Services of 2015, local fire protection inspection employees are obliged to inspect any type of facility, various installations, storage and maintenance of goods, materials and relevant documentation related to fire safety.
The completion of the investigations will reveal whether or not prior inspections were conducted, and whether we are dealing with an inevitable disaster or whether taking precautions could have prevented it.
