Prime Minister Edi Rama has taken the initiative to free up public spaces. The Prime Minister took this initiative from Vlora, a city which, according to him, is the worst example in the country in the occupation of public spaces.
Three days ago, Rama gave a 48-hour ultimatum to businesses on the Lungomare to vacate public spaces, warning them that from Monday "they will no longer have anything in their hands!"
"This type of occupation on the beautiful Lungomare of Vlora belongs to a new category called "Pergolas", which precedes the request for legalization with the scandalous theory that the land is owned by the builder of the building, while not, the land around the building is owned by all the residents, just like all the common areas! The problem with these "pergolas" in Vlora is that they have extended beyond the area foreseen by the project for placing tents and chairs for services and, as in the case marked in the photo, have also opened up on the sides of the buildings, taking over the sidewalks, under the closed eyes of inspectors and municipal leaders for years! Now my call to all the squatters of the sidewalks on the Lungomare is: You have 48 hours to return their sidewalks to the citizens and tourists and to remove all types of iron and reinforced concrete, while simultaneously pulling the "pergolas" to the line foreseen by the project "Seasiders! From Monday you will no longer have anything in your hands!" , was Rama's warning.
Already today, all businesses operating on Lungomare have gathered to discuss Rama's warning, while threatening to organize to impose a total closure of businesses.
