The Court of Appeal in Greece has confirmed the life sentence for 44-year-old Florand Shehu, who in July 2021 cold-bloodedly murdered his 31-year-old wife, Anisa, in their apartment in the Dafina area of ??Athens.

The Albanian was found guilty unanimously of charges of premeditated murder in a state of calm, as well as possession and use of weapons, without any mitigating circumstances being recognized by the jury.

The serious incident occurred on July 30, 2021, when the perpetrator stabbed the woman with a 28 cm knife in the neck area, causing her death.

According to forensic expertise, there were no signs of resistance, indicating that the victim may have been lying in bed and unprepared for the attack.

The couple had a young son and lived in the Haravgi neighborhood of Dafina, where the author had a small business, a fast-food restaurant in the area's main square.

According to statements by neighbors to Greek media, the relationship between the couple was conflictual, with constant arguments and pronounced jealousy on the part of the husband.

Calls for help were often heard from their apartment.

The victim's family lawyer, Ioannis Glykas, stated that during the court hearing, the accused attempted to justify the act by raising unfounded allegations of an extramarital affair by his wife, which were never proven and were rejected by the court.

"His behavior was considered completely unacceptable and the court did not recognize any mitigating circumstances," the lawyer stated.

At the end of the statement, Glykas added: "This decision cannot restore lost lives, but it constitutes a clear message of justice and faith in the rule of law."
