Long queues in Kapshtica, the Greek side works with only 2 counters

Long queues of Albanian immigrants returning to their places of residence and work in Greece have been created this Friday at the border crossing point of Kapshtica.

Albanian citizens report that they have waited more than an hour to cross the border. The reason for the long waiting hours is the Greek side working with reduced counters at the entrance.

"These people don't work, more the Greeks. I know, I've been here for an hour."

Queues have mostly been created on neutral ground, where the Albanian border police have placed vehicles in up to 5 lanes waiting to cross to the other side of the border.

In such circumstances, our border authorities have had several meetings with the Greek police, requesting the addition of counters, which has not been reflected by the Greek side, due to the lack of personnel.

Currently, the Albanian side works with 4 counters at the exit and 3 at the entrance, while the Greeks work with 2 counters at the entrance and one at the exit.

Today alone, more than 3,700 Albanian and foreign citizens have crossed the border with Greece, while the day before there were over 5,000 citizens.
