Police announce that the young man who injured the cousin of the mayor of Kukës, Albert Halilaj, has surrendered.

According to police information, the injured person has been identified as Elvis Halili, while the suspected perpetrator has been identified as Zenel Muçmata.

The latter is known to be a director at the Municipality of Kukës, while the injured man is a cousin of the mayor.

"Following the information provided earlier, regarding the gunshot wound to citizen EH, during a conflict for weak motives, we inform you that:

Thanks to rapid and intensive investigative actions, continuous police checks and constant communication with family members, at around 9:00 PM, the suspected perpetrator, citizen SM, 25 years old, resident of Kukës, surrendered himself along with the pistol-type firearm, which he is suspected of having used in this incident.

"Under the direction of the Prosecutor's Office, work continues to fully clarify and document the incident," the police announced.
