The VLEN party reacted this evening, demanding clarification from the Albanian authorities regarding the detention of 3 North Macedonian officials in Qafë Thanë.
Three officials were detained in Qafë Thanë: the coordinator of the VLEN Parliamentary Group, Bekim Qoku, MP Adnan Azizi, and the Deputy Secretary General of the Government, Hasim Murtezani.
The reaction on social media states that inter-Albanian relations should be based on transparency, institutional respect, and clear communication, and not on bans without explanation.
"The unexplained detention of our three officials requires an official response!"
Today, at the Qafë Thanë border crossing, the coordinator of the VLEN Parliamentary Group, Bekim Qoku, MP Adnan Azizi, and the Deputy Secretary General of the Government, Hasim Murtezani, were detained for about an hour without any official explanation, even though all three were carrying diplomatic passports.
According to information unofficially communicated by the border police, they have been banned from entering. However, no decision, document or justification has been made known to them.
VALEN requests the authorities of the Republic of Albania to inform public opinion whether such a measure really exists.
If so, who made this decision, on what legal basis was it based, and what are the concrete reasons for such action against elected officials and institutional representatives?
"Inter-Albanian relations should be built on transparency, institutional respect and clear communication, not on unexplained prohibitions and procedures that leave room for doubt," the response states.
