The war in Gaza, Rama: the Balkans, a multi-ethnic and multi-religious region.

The war in Ukraine, and now also the one between Israel and Hamas, for Prime Minister Edi Rama, necessarily requires the strengthening of peace in the Balkan region.

In the joint press conference with the Secretary General of NATO, Jens Stoltenberg and the leaders of the region, the head of the Albanian government said that it should not be forgotten that the Western Balkans is a region not only multi-ethnic, but also multi-religious to "the negative effects of that conflict (Israel-Hamas) are not excluded".

"Especially engaged with more troops to secure the border between Serbia and Kosovo, which is the source of many evils and from which individuals, groups, forces that aim to destabilize Kosovo penetrate. It is indisputable and not in vain that the secretary underlined despite the fact that it is not a direct instrument of NATO, but of the EU, that the only way to address all the problems that must be solved towards the final peace between Serbia and Kosovo is the way of mediated by the EU dialogue. We already have a common desire here for the future format of this first meeting of this nature to take place with the presence of other countries of the Balkans, which are not members of NATO, but which have level agreements with NATO and different partnerships. It must not be forgotten that the peace we have in this region is extremely precious, even though it has its own fragility and despite its fragility and the strengthening of peace is a strategic objective of all and must be so at every step and for all the reasons, even more so in a world not far from us that is involved in wars. Because now we not only have a war at the doors of Europe, in Ukraine, but we also have another war in the continuation of the conflict between Israel and Hamas. Let's not forget that we are not only a multi-ethnic, but also a multi-religious region and the negative impacts of that conflict are not excluded from our region. Therefore, here in our region, we all together must do everything possible to not take a single step behind because we come from a not too distant past, with a lot of blood, with many wounds and with a lot of pain, and we have never was better than today. Of course, tomorrow we have to be much better than today, if we don't want tomorrow to be yesterday. "

As for Kosovo, Rama emphasizes that its Euro-Atlantic direction is beyond any kind of discussion and it must be helped to accelerate its integration into NATO.

"We are convinced that Kosovo should be helped to accelerate its integration into NATO. With (the president of Croatia) absolute conviction, that it is absurd for Kosovo to be hindered in this process while all of us together in NATO are not only attentive, but also engaged in Kosovo at present. And the Euro-Atlantic direction of Kosovo is beyond any kind of discussion. While the reluctance to recognize Kosovo from the EU and NATO countries is an echo of a past that is always less relevant compared to the present that has brought so many new challenges and that requires much more unity and much more very strategic view".
