Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti has described the signing of the Declaration on Defense Alliance between Kosovo, Albania and Croatia, which aims to strengthen military partnership, as an extremely important step for security and peace in the region.
"An extremely important step for security and peace in the region, through the defense, cooperation and coordination of our peace-loving countries, with the trilateral declaration on military alliance signed today in Tirana."
This cooperation agreement includes joint military operations, training and increased interoperability between the armed forces of the three Balkan countries, in light of new geopolitical and security challenges in Southeast Europe.
The alliance will be open to further expansion, not excluding the possibility of other countries joining in the future, and Bulgaria has been mentioned as a potential candidate to join Kosovo, Albania and Croatia.
This alliance is built on the basis of NATO's Smart Defense model, a concept that aims to improve and increase defense capabilities through close cooperation.
NATO currently has 26 active projects within this concept, while 6 have been successfully closed after meeting their objectives.
