Mitsotakis calls Archbishop Joan, details of the conversation emerge

24 hours after being elected head of the Orthodox Church of Albania, Archbishop Joan received a phone call from Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis.

Through a post on the 'X' platform, Mitsotakis writes that the Church of Albania is a point of unity and mutual understanding between the two peoples.

"We will continue to work towards this goal, honoring the memory and work of Blessed Anastas. I contacted His Beatitude Archbishop Ioannis of Tirana, Durrës and All Albania and congratulated him on his election."

Joan Pelushi was elected Archbishop of the Autocephalous Orthodox Church of Albania on March 16 following the passing of the late Archbishop Anastasios.
