The controversies about the "Berat case" and the decision of Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, on vacation in Albania, to pay the bill from the Italian embassy for the four Italian tourists who escaped from the restaurant without paying for dinner, do not stop. Regarding the case in question, a recent reaction has also come from the journalist and former PD senator Tommaso Cerno, currently director of the newspaper "L'Identita".

He provoked on Twitter (X): "A nice gesture by Meloni for the unpaid bill of a group of Italian thieves. But if the Albanian embassy were to compensate Italy for the thefts committed in the last 20 years by Albanian citizens, it would go bankrupt."

After this post, reactions and indignation were inevitable.

An answer has also come from Ermal Meta, the singer-songwriter who won twice in Sanremo, grew up in Bari, after leaving Albania as a child.

In a post on Twitter, the singer-songwriter writes:

“Dear Tommaso, it seems the antennas pointed to the West (the only possible direction) have taught some to be dishonest and malicious. Often ordinary people are masked by irony, but it is when they frown that they show themselves for what they are. I mean a little. And I'm sorry because I think you're a very intelligent person."

Entrepreneur Anita Likmeta: "We don't owe you anything, you are an idiot"

But the musician was not the only one who responded harshly to Cerno. Even the Albanian entrepreneur, journalist and activist Anita Likmeta used very harsh tones towards Cerno. Likmeta, in a long post on Twitter, said that he arrived in Italy at the age of 11 from Albania:

"Albanians, especially us children, have paid a very high price for what the Italian press has done to us, i.e. what people like you have done to us. You have made us feel like nothing mixed with nothing for years. We were without citizenship, shadows terrified by the prepackaged prejudice that was broadcast every day". And the businessman continues: "The Albanian government owes absolutely nothing to Italy, which, if we open this debate, should instead give explanations for example about the financial pyramids and the 103 Albanians who collided and were killed in the canal of Otranto in 1997. The dead who even today have never received justice".

And Likmeta concludes:

"Prime Minister Edi Rama did very well to let Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni enjoy the appetizer of that hatred and prejudice, of which all of us Albanians in Italy and in the world have been victims. And Mr. Cerno, let me tell you, you are an idiot. Get informed!".
