Prime Minister Edi Rama, during a meeting with tour operators, hoteliers and tourism professionals in Durrës, declared that there is a new project for the coastal city, the construction of a "new territory within the sea".

Rama did not provide many details on this project, but called on entrepreneurs that any new hotel building that will be built must be based on quality, as the segment that is intended to be attracted to Durrës for tourism now needs to pay for beauty and high standards.

He stated, among other things, that he is currently focused on quality and not quantity, demanding that the quality of service be increased.

Rama emphasized that Albania should now target those tourists who consume more.

"It is no longer the time for quantity, but for quality. It is no longer the time for throwing money away, but it is time for every penny invested to be invested in quality by the private sector, in the quality of services. We should not increase numbers indefinitely, but increase the number of tourists who consume more," Rama said.

Likewise, the head of government stated that for this reason, work is being done to expand the Rinas international airport as well as other tourist ports in the country.

"We have a very ambitious project, which we hope to carry forward with a very large group of investors, who for the first time will try to create a territory inside the sea. All of this increases the value of this beach, all the investments you have made, increase the value of every other investment that is made.

For this reason, I want to emphasize the fact that we have looked carefully at the new projects, there are very beautiful projects, and I would encourage you that every brick, every brick, that you bring, you should think carefully and bring it with quality, as I said, because now the new things that are built here, should be aimed at tourists who come and who pay more for the room, pay more for the stay. They need some other conditions. All these hotels that have been built respond to a kind of layer, and very well that this is the basic layer, but we need to build the infrastructure that responds to the next layer.

"And for this reason we are working on the expansion of Rinas airport. For this reason we are also working on other tourist ports and so on," said Rama.
