Three days after the official launch of the electoral campaign for the May 11 parliamentary elections, the first arrest for active corruption in the elections was recorded.

It concerns the 38-year-old from Lushnja, identified as Marin Leka , who fell into the hands of the blues after promising a sum of money to a citizen in exchange for a vote for the Democratic Party.

Leka had taken the identity card of citizen Muharrem Toska and promised him 500 euros in exchange for a vote for the party led by former Prime Minister Sali Berisha .

It was Toska herself who reported the 38-year-old to the Police , emphasizing that after handing over her identity card, she regretted it and therefore turned to the authorities.

In her testimony before the investigative group, Toska stated that Leka would give her the money in exchange for votes for the Democratic Party.

However, after giving him the card, he regretted it, and as a result decided to report him.

On the other hand, during searches at Marin Leka's home, an ID with the name of Muharrem Toska was found.

Before the Blues, Leka himself claimed that he took the ID card as a promise to vote, but refused to say for which subject the promise was made.

This file has been passed to the Special Prosecution Office against Corruption and Organized Crime, which is competent to investigate electoral crimes.

The established "Task Force", headed by the head of SPAK, Altin Dumanin, will operate for 3 months, until the end of May, and consists of a central structure and investigative groups distributed in the field during the election period.

The team includes prosecutors, BKH investigators, financial investigators, and administrative support staff in all 12 regions and 61 municipalities, while in Tirana the central structure will be led by Altin Dumani himself.

The electoral crimes that SPAK will investigate for the May 11 parliamentary elections are active corruption in elections, passive corruption in elections, criminal groups in elections, and any electoral crime by senior officials.
