Former Minister of Health Ilir Beqja will be asked again at SPAK for the sterilization concession.
The other 4 former officials for whom the court has suggested investigations will also be expected to arrive at the doors of the Special Prosecutor's Office.
Beqaj will be asked about the trips he made to Italy and Vienna with his former deputy Klodian Rjepaj and the businessman Ilir Rrapaj who won the Concession for the sterilization of surgical sets.
As for his acquaintance with businessmen Ilir Rrapaj and Umbro Staccini, the former Minister of Health says that he got to know them after taking office and signed the contracts with them for work needs.
"In September 2016, it is true that I traveled to Vienna. According to the investigation, there was also Admir Daca. It can. I only got to know him the day I signed the contract", writes Beqaj in a reaction yesterday on Facebook.
Beqaj stated that it was necessary to create a single operator to sterilize medical equipment, since the sterilization center at QSUT did not cover the needs of all hospitals in the country.
The main goal, according to him, was to stop the demolition of what we found and pay off the 40 million USD debts inherited from the previous government.
According to Beqaj, the sterilization concession brought change in Albanian surgery, since according to him, in 2014 they had neither the knowledge nor the money to do such a venture alone.
He writes that the public-private partnership contract for sterilization has led to a significant decrease in hospital infection in the surgery rooms of public Albanian hospitals and a reduction of at least 1.8 days of a patient's stay in the hospital.
Since August 17, former deputy minister Klodian Rjepaj and businessman Ilir Rrapaj have been arrested under security measures, while 6 others are under investigation under security measures of 'house arrest' or 'compulsion to appear'.
