Doctor Artan Simaku, during a communication with the media, spoke about the situation of viruses in the country, as well as the situation of Covid and the actions that citizens should follow at this time.

Simaku stated that currently the flu situation in the country is in the situation it was before the pandemic, while adding that the flu virus and the covid virus are circulating simultaneously.

Asked how citizens can distinguish whether they have been infected with flu or covid, Simaku replied that the difference can be made clinically or by symptoms such as temperature, which lasts 4 to 5 days, muscle pains and a state of weakness, which in the case of the flu, they are more pronounced.

" Currently, the flu situation is the same as it was before the pandemic, during the pandemic, due to the restrictions, the flu did not circulate and there were very few cases in the second year. At the moment it has returned to the usual seasonal circulation, the virus type A and type B are circulating.

Circulation is widespread throughout the country and affects all ages, the intensity is low and there is an increasing trend. Traffic peaks in late January and early February and ends around March.

We have already entered the phase of usual seasonal activity, the numbers are not high in relation to the flu, but there is co-circulation of flu and Covid.

What is important is vaccination. People can be vaccinated against both viruses at the same time. In addition to vaccination, masks, distancing and hygiene should not be neglected for the risk groups of the population.

Clinically, doctors can make a distinction between the diseases despite the fact that the signs are very similar.

This difference is temperature and duration, the flu has a high temperature that lasts for 4-5 days and has pain and a state of weakness more pronounced than covid. We are in the season where the pandemic is not over yet, vaccination must be done for both diseases to be more protected ," he said.
