New details have been revealed from the fire that engulfed a sponge production factory in the village of Katund i Ri in Elbasan.

It is learned that the factory is owned by the citizen Florenc Salibashi, while the whole area was engulfed by a large cloud of smoke. The cause of the fire is suspected to be a fault in the electrical system.

The sponge factory owned by Florenc Salibashi had been operating for years, without any previously reported problems.

"Around 10:20 a.m., in the village of Katund i Ri, Elbasan, there was a fire in a private entity (factory for the production of sponges), owned by citizen FB, 53 years old, resident of the neighborhood "Dyli Haxhire", Elbasan. As a result, only material damage was caused.

Initially, it is suspected that the fire occurred as a result of a defect in the electrical system of this business facility. The fire services are continuing the work to extinguish the fire", the police announcement states.

The investigative team is at the scene, with the aim of clarifying the cause of the fire.
