A criminal organization in Spain, called the "Balkan cartel", has been hit by the police, who seized more than 1700 kilograms of cocaine in the port of Valencia, and arrested one of them.

According to the Spanish media, the arrested person had come from Albania to supervise the transaction and has military training and high operational knowledge, according to the statement of the Tax Agency and the National Police.

Cocaine was hidden in seafood containers from Ecuador in various ways, using holes in the refrigerator of the containers, designing false floors on them or hollow beams inside to place the narcotic.

The investigation began when it became known that the network could import sea containers of fruit from Ecuador on a weekly basis that would hide significant quantities of drugs.

In a first phase of the operation, which had the cooperation of the Civil Guard, the investigators managed to discover the companies that could be used by the Balkan cartel and it was verified how they had started to use the sea containers that entered Spain from regularly, importing several dozen containers from a fruit exporting company in Ecuador, bound for Valencia.

Last June this criminal network attempted to smuggle in a significant amount of cocaine that was hidden in the freezer rooms, seizing a total of 45 kilograms of cocaine and arresting the member of the criminal organization at the time.

Three mobile devices and various materials for extracting drugs from containers were also seized.

In the second phase of the operation, continuing with the investigations, various controls were carried out on the containers that had arrived at the port of Valencia, again finding two containers hiding 44 and 46 kilograms of cocaine each.

Also, a third container with a sophisticated structure was found, which hid 200 kilograms of cocaine in its false floor.

Then, in the third phase, it was discovered how the criminal organization was trying to insert drugs into the floor beams of a container, where a total of 550 kilograms of narcotics were seized.

Finally, in the month of July, which coincides with the fourth phase of the operation, two new containers were discovered that were hidden in the floor of the structure, where between them 831 kilograms of cocaine were seized.
