The Supreme Court has dismissed for the second time the appeal of the elected mayor of Himara, Fredi Beleri, after he requested a milder security measure than prison arrest.
The recourse of Beler and Pandeli Kokaveshi was reviewed today in the consultation room. Earlier, Beler was denied freedom even by the Special Court.
Fredi Beleri was arrested in the premises of a bar in Himare, just 2 days before the local elections on May 14, after he was caught red-handed with his associate Pandeli Kokaveshi buying votes.
Beleri could not take office, as the judicial authorities did not give him permission to take the oath.
