"We will win the war", Putin against nuclear weapons: There is no need

Russia does not need to use nuclear weapons to achieve its goals.

This is what the President of Russia, Vladimir Putin, said during a speech at the International Economic Forum in Saint-Petersburg.

This is the Kremlin's strongest signal yet, warning that Europe's deadliest conflict since World War II will not escalate into nuclear war.

"The use of nuclear weapons, non-use, or use under any circumstances is unnecessary. We have a nuclear doctrine, everything is written there. The use of nuclear weapons is possible in case of an extraordinary threat to the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the country" .

Putin said he does not rule out changes to Russia's nuclear doctrine, which defines the conditions under which such weapons can be used.

He also said that if necessary, Russia could test nuclear weapons, although he does not see the need to do so at this time.

"If necessary, we will carry out nuclear tests. So far, there has been no need for this because our information capabilities, computers allow us to carry out everything as it is."
Vladimir Putin, President of Russia

Therefore, Putin added that Russia will win the war in Ukraine and therefore another general military mobilization is not necessary. The public debate about nuclear strikes on a stage at Russia's main economic forum is seen by political analysts as an attempt by the Kremlin to reduce nuclear fears as the war in Ukraine escalates into what Russian and US diplomats say is its worst phase. dangerous so far. Russia and the United States possess nearly 90% of the world's nuclear weapons.
