A 38-year-old man was found dead this evening in the canal of the Bistrica river hydropower plant in Saranda.

The police inform that he had left the apartment a few hours ago, while the family members have stated that the 38-year-old was suffering from mental health problems.

"Around 4:00 p.m., citizen AM, 38 years old, resident of Saranda, is suspected to have accidentally drowned in the channel of the "Bistrica 2" hydropower plant. According to the statements of family members, this citizen was suffering from mental health problems and had left the apartment a few hours ago", the police informs.

The investigative team is working to fully clarify the circumstances of the event.
