Caught exchanging 1 kg of pure cocaine, 3 Albanians are imprisoned in Britain

Three Albanian nationals and a Romanian have been jailed by a UK court after they were caught red-handed trading 1kg of pure cocaine in a car park in Hove.

It was Albert Nedelcu, a Romanian citizen who took it upon himself to transport the cocaine to the place where the Albanians were waiting to carry out the exchange.

In the trial, the 23-year-old Romanian, who worked as a truck driver, said that he had approached a businessman and asked him to transport a bag, without seeing what was inside it.

With a "Hyundai" type car, he took the bag to transport it and after parking, three Albanian citizens, Andi Dema, Ridison Nega and Xhenaru Shehu, entered the car. They took the bag of drugs and left a bag of money inside.

The three Albanians claimed in court that they were forced to enter the drug trade due to economic difficulties and debts. Andi Dema was convicted twice before and deported from Britain.

Dema, who had two previous drug convictions, was sentenced to five and a half years in prison.

Nega, of Neëmarket Road, Brighton, and Nedelcu were both jailed for four-and-a-half years.

Shehu, from Palmeira Avenue Mansions, was sentenced to two years and four months in prison.

Recorder Judge Tom Nicholson-Pratt said all deportees were likely to be deported.
