A 65-year-old man from the village of Vërdovë i Pogradec committed suicide using a Kalashnikov firearm.

Nevrus Afezi, a resident of this village, committed suicide in the premises of his apartment under circumstances that are still unclear even for the police.

It was the family members who, after hearing the gunshots, ran to find out what happened, but they found the 65-year-old without signs of life.

Under these conditions, they notified the Pogradec police station, which is at the scene and is investigating the causes of the suicide.

"On 10.02.2024, around 17:35, in the village of Vërdovë, Pogradec, in the basement of the apartment, it is suspected that he committed suicide with an automatic firearm, citizen NA, about 65 years old. The firearm was seized as material evidence," the police announced.
