SPAK Director, Altin Dumani, in an interview for the "Trialog" show on RTSH, spoke directly for the first time about the investigation against Deputy Prime Minister Belinda Balluku.
Regarding informing the public about the investigation against Balluk, Dumani emphasized SPAK's care in preserving the integrity of the investigation and respecting the rights of the subject: " The announcement was made on the day the charges were communicated to him."
The head of SPAK acknowledged the difficulty in finding a balance between transparency and maintaining investigative secrecy. He explained that announcements are made at the stage of filing charges or when the case goes to trial, and communication is only done through the official website.
Regarding the frequent leaks of information in the media, Dumani explained:
"From frequent verifications, when the media publishes the contents of the investigative file, it has resulted that the media has received information when we as an institution communicate with the persons under investigation and their defense attorneys through acts. I am not saying that there cannot be leaks from SPAK, but we have greatly minimized this."
Dumani also put an end to rumors of a possible threat to the prosecutor investigating the case of Deputy Prime Minister Balluku. He confirmed his full support for Prosecutor Premçi, as well as for all other prosecutors.
"None of what is said about my threats to the prosecutor of the case is true. Prosecutor Premçi has my full support. I have frequent contact with him ," said Dumani.
He added that Prosecutor Premçi has not expressed any concern about any possible threat to him, whether from Prime Minister Edi Rama or anyone else, emphasizing that prosecutors are independent and masters of their own cases.
