Serbia has sent a note of protest to the Albanian embassy in Belgrade for the burning of the Serbian flag in the center of Skënderbej square on November 20, the evening when the Albania-Faroe Islands match was played on Air Albania as part of the Euro 2024 qualifiers.
The Serbian media write that the announcement of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Serbia states that such events damage the bilateral relations of the two countries which, according to the Serbian Ministry, have reached the highest point during their centuries-old history.
"We believe that such events harm the bilateral relations of the two countries, which in recent years have reached the highest point during their centuries-long shared history," the ministry's statement said.
Furthermore, the Foreign Ministry emphasizes that it expects the competent institutions of Albania to do everything. in their powers to identify and prosecute the perpetrators of this ugly act, which are clearly seen in the video of the burning of the flag published by the media.
The note of protest expresses the expectation that Albania will inform the institutions of Serbia about this through diplomatic channels within a reasonable period of time.
