This afternoon in the village of Balldren in Lezha, a 42-year-old citizen, Nikolin Marku ( Lekstakaj ), was executed with a firearm.
After the incident, the victim's brother, Markut Bledar, said that he had just returned from Tirana and was staying at home with his mother when Nikolini took his car to go buy something.
He stated that a few minutes later he heard shots, but he did not think that his brother could have been killed and later, after being late, he was informed about the incident.
The 42-year-old man was leaving the market when he was shot by a moving vehicle. It is suspected that the driver and the person who shot Nikolini were in the vehicle.
The only suspected track is that of revenge, since the Leskakaj and Nikulaj tribes have been at enmity for almost 3 decades. Only 3 months ago, Ardian Nikulaj was killed in his business premises in Shengjin.
The conflict between the two Nikulaj and Lekstakaj tribes started in 1996, at a gas station at the exit of the city of Lezha for an amount of 10 thousand old leks.
At that time, the brother of the businessman Ardian Nikulaj together with another person were sellers at the gas station and one of the members of the Lekstakaj family was supplying the car there. After the supply, the sellers argued with the driver claiming that he had not paid for the fuel.
After the argument, they left and one of them returned armed a few minutes later and shot in the direction of the gas station. Ardian Nikulaj's brother was one of the victims.
A few months after this event, Gëzim Lekstakaj and Laurent Gjetja, the latter a grandson of the family, were killed.
The bloodshed continued in 1999 with the murder of Gjovalin Lekstakaj and his relative, Pjetër Lekstakaj, was injured.
These events continue to be unsolved by Albanian justice.
