35-year-old Ndriçim Sokoli, from the village of Vilë Bashtova, Rrogozhinë, is the author of the murder of his elderly mother.

Police said in a statement that the 75-year-old's death was reported as a natural death on Sunday.

But after investigation and forensic expertise, it turned out she had been physically abused by her son receiving injuries that cost her life. It is suspected the youngster suffers from mental health issues.

It was initially reported as a natural death, as a result of extensive investigative actions, the cause of the loss of life of the 75-year-old. His mother, through physical violence, is arrested in the blatant 35-year-old. The 35-year-old suffered from mental illness. Following the deep investigative actions carried out in the direction of the Prosecution office at the Court of First Instance of General Jurisdiction of Durres, for the cause of death of citizen I. S., 75, who was found dead on 10.02.2024, in the apartment where she lived with her son, we explain that:

At the first moments, from the preliminary external look at the 75-year-old's body, no signs of violence were found and the event was reported as natural death. After conducting extensive investigations and forensic expertise, it was established that the citizen I.S. had been lost for several hours.

It also turned out that her son, N.S., who suffers from mental illness, had physically assaulted the 75-year-old, which had caused him injuries that resulted in loss of life. The procedurale materials were passed to the Prosecution at the Court of first instance of the General Jurisdiction of Durres, for further action.
